R1 P2 Andy Behrens Ramirez, Hanley SS FLA
R1 P3 Derek Carty Wright, David 3B NYM
R1 P4 Michael Salfino Reyes, Jose SS NYM
R1 P5 Chris Bracke Utley, Chase 2B PHI
R1 P6 Brent Grooms Rollins, Jimmy SS PHI
R1 P7 Ray Flowers Pujols, Albert 1B STL
R1 P8 Tim McLeod Holliday, Matt OF COL
R1 P9 Nate Stephens Braun, Ryan 3B MIL
R1 P10 Peter Kreutzer Crawford, Carl OF TB
R1 P11 Mike Kuchera Fielder, Prince 1B MIL
R1 P12 Mike Inglett Cabrera, Miguel 3B DET
Notes from this round & my pick: First 8 picks went about as I expected, but then Braun at #9 overall surprised me. I was expecting to end up with Fielder instead I was ecstatic to get Miguel Cabrera with the 12th pick. I am predicting a huge year from him in DET, I thought he would go #9 overall but I bet he winds up a top 5 fantasy producer in 2008.
R2 P1 Mike Inglett Howard, Ryan 1B PHI
R2 P2 Mike Kuchera Soriano, Alfonso OF CHC
R2 P3 Peter Kreutzer Santana, Johan SP MIN
R2 P4 Nate Stephens Ortiz, David DH BOS
R2 P5 Tim McLeod Sizemore, Grady OF CLE
R2 P6 Ray Flowers Beltran, Carlos OF NYM
R2 P7 Brent Grooms Phillips, Brandon 2B CIN
R2 P8 Chris Bracke Suzuki, Ichiro OF SEA
R2 P9 Michael Salfino Guerrero, Vladimir OF ANA
R2 P10 Derek Carty Lee, Carlos OF HOU
R2 P11 Andy Behrens Upton, B.J. OF, 2B TB
R2 P12 David Gonos Peavy, Jake SP SD
Notes from this round & my pick: Santana finally went at #15 overall and was surprised to see BJ Upton being draft at the end of round 2. Once again very happy to see Ryan Howard available as I thought he would have been a top #10 pick, expect a .280 BA this year. My HR, RBI and Run categories are off to a great start.
R3 P1 David Gonos Teixeira, Mark 1B ATL
R3 P2 Andy Behrens Berkman, Lance 1B, OF HOU
R3 P3 Derek Carty Martin, Russell C LA
R3 P4 Michael Salfino Ramirez, Manny OF BOS
R3 P5 Chris Bracke Martinez, Victor C, 1B CLE
R3 P6 Brent Grooms Ramirez, Aramis 3B CHC
R3 P7 Ray Flowers Abreu, Bobby OF NYY
R3 P8 Tim McLeod Granderson, Curtis OF DET
R3 P9 Nate Stephens Rios, Alex OF TOR
R3 P10 Peter Kreutzer Markakis, Nick OF BAL
R3 P11 Mike Kuchera Ordonez, Magglio OF DET
R3 P12 Mike Inglett Byrnes, Eric OF ARI
Notes from this round & my pick: First couple of catchers off the board, even with two starting catchers required in my opinion too early for them to be drafted. Since my first two rounds were great power hitters, went for speed with some pop with my next two picks. Not expecting Byrnes to repeat his '07 numbers but even 80-85% would be a good pick at this point, plus we need five starting OF. Was considering Dunn, but since I already have the power numbers, went for speed.
R4 P1 Mike Inglett Roberts, Brian 2B BAL
R4 P2 Mike Kuchera Jeter, Derek SS NYY
R4 P3 Peter Kreutzer Atkins, Garrett 3B COL
R4 P4 Nate Stephens Bedard, Erik SP BAL
R4 P5 Tim McLeod Dunn, Adam OF CIN
R4 P6 Ray Flowers Figgins, Chone 3B ANA
R4 P7 Brent Grooms Morneau, Justin 1B MIN
R4 P8 Chris Bracke Webb, Brandon SP ARI
R4 P9 Michael Salfino Beckett, Josh SP BOS
R4 P10 Derek Carty Hunter, Torii OF ANA
R4 P11 Andy Behrens Hafner, Travis DH CLE
R4 P12 David Gonos Young, Chris OF ARI
Notes from this round & my pick: With my 4th round pick, I went for another stolen base threat with some pop at a somewhat thin position. With my first four picks I should be at the top in four of the hitting categories and at least middle of the road in batting average. Surprise picks for me were Torii Hunter and Chris Young (OF), I just don't see them worthy of a 4th round pick.
R5 P1 David Gonos Cano, Robinson 2B NYY
R5 P2 Andy Behrens Hamels, Cole SP PHI
R5 P3 Derek Carty Sabathia, C.C. SP CLE
R5 P4 Michael Salfino Lee, Derrek 1B CHC
R5 P5 Chris Bracke Lackey, John SP ANA
R5 P6 Brent Grooms Hart, Corey OF MIL
R5 P7 Ray Flowers Guillen, Carlos SS, 1B DET
R5 P8 Tim McLeod Kinsler, Ian 2B TEX
R5 P9 Nate Stephens Verlander, Justin SP DET
R5 P10 Peter Kreutzer Young, Michael SS TEX
R5 P11 Mike Kuchera Papelbon, Jon RP BOS
R5 P12 Mike Inglett Tulowitzki, Troy SS COL
Notes from this round & my pick: First closer off the board is Papelbon. Little surprised at some of the middle infielders that were picked this round. I went with a great young SS with big upside at the end of the 5th round. Expect 100 Runs, 95+ RBI's, 25 HR's, 10 SB's and a .290 AVG with upside potential playing in a hitter friendly park.
R6 P1 Mike Inglett Haren, Dan SP ARI
R6 P2 Mike Kuchera Zambrano, Carlos SP CHC
R6 P3 Peter Kreutzer Tejada, Miguel SS HOU
R6 P4 Nate Stephens Pence, Hunter OF HOU
R6 P5 Tim McLeod McCann, Brian C ATL
R6 P6 Ray Flowers Hernandez, Felix SP SEA
R6 P7 Brent Grooms Oswalt, Roy SP HOU
R6 P8 Chris Bracke Furcal, Rafael SS LA
R6 P9 Michael Salfino Hawpe, Brad OF COL
R6 P10 Derek Carty Uggla, Dan 2B FLA
R6 P11 Andy Behrens Matsui, Hideki OF NYY
R6 P12 David Gonos Mauer, Joe C MIN
Notes from this round & my pick: The other two top catchers went off the board in this round. Was once again surprised with some of the middle infielder picks this round. Since I would not be picking for another 23 picks, I went with best SP on the board and was happy to get Dan Haren. I am figuring there will be plenty of quality SP's later in the draft, but I wanted to lock down one ace.
R7 P1 David Gonos Swisher, Nick OF, 1B CHW
R7 P2 Andy Behrens Young, Delmon OF MIN
R7 P3 Derek Carty Jones, Chipper 3B ATL
R7 P4 Michael Salfino Gonzalez, Adrian 1B SD
R7 P5 Chris Bracke Pena, Carlos 1B TB
R7 P6 Brent Grooms Harang, Aaron SP CIN
R7 P7 Ray Flowers Kazmir, Scott SP TB
R7 P8 Tim McLeod Putz, J.J. RP SEA
R7 P9 Nate Stephens Kendrick, Howie 2B ANA
R7 P10 Peter Kreutzer Halladay, Roy SP TOR
R7 P11 Mike Kuchera Nathan, Joe RP MIN
R7 P12 Mike Inglett Francoeur, Jeff OF ATL
Notes from this round & my pick: Really liked the Swisher pick, he could have a great year in CHI. Howie Kendrick this early surprised me. Since we start 5 OF's it was time to get the best available one, so I picked Francoeur. I am expecting 25+ HR's, 100+ RBI's and a .280 AVG in '08.
R8 P1 Mike Inglett Rodriguez, Francisco RP ANA
R8 P2 Mike Kuchera Victorino, Shane OF PHI
R8 P3 Peter Kreutzer Konerko, Paul 1B CHW
R8 P4 Nate Stephens Saito, Takashi RP LA
R8 P5 Tim McLeod Beltre, Adrian 3B SEA
R8 P6 Ray Flowers Weeks, Rickie 2B MIL
R8 P7 Brent Grooms Matsuzaka, Daisuke SP BOS
R8 P8 Chris Bracke Wells, Vernon OF TOR
R8 P9 Michael Salfino Smoltz, John SP ATL
R8 P10 Derek Carty Young, Chris SP SD
R8 P11 Andy Behrens Posada, Jorge C NYY
R8 P12 David Gonos Renteria, Edgar SS DET
Notes from this round & my pick: I wanted to get one of the top four closers, thought I would have to pick one in of them on round 6 but I am glad I waited and I was able to do it with an 8th round pick. K-Rod should be near the lead league in saves, plus will give me plenty of K's at the closer position. Rickie Weeks was the most interesting pick this round, could be a very good pick if he can stay healthy. I expect big things from him in 2008.
R9 P1 David Gonos Bay, Jason OF PIT
R9 P2 Andy Behrens Vazquez, Javier SP CHW
R9 P3 Derek Carty Dye, Jermaine OF CHW
R9 P4 Michael Salfino Johjima, Kenji C SEA
R9 P5 Chris Bracke Zimmerman, Ryan 3B WAS
R9 P6 Brent Grooms Shields, James SP TB
R9 P7 Ray Flowers Pierre, Juan OF LA
R9 P8 Tim McLeod Escobar, Kelvim SP ANA
R9 P9 Nate Stephens Rivera, Mariano RP NYY
R9 P10 Peter Kreutzer Pedroia, Dustin 2B BOS
R9 P11 Mike Kuchera Carmona, Fausto SP CLE
R9 P12 Mike Inglett Jones, Andruw OF LA
Notes from this round & my pick: Was glad to see Jason Bay, Jermaine Dye and Juan Pierre go off the board as I was targeting an OF and SP with my next two picks, with them gone my choice was made for me. Will Andruw Jones bounce back? I think so, and taking a late 9th round pick on a player who could hit 35+ HR and 100+ RBI's was worth the risk of a low batting average. I really wanted to get Fausto Carmona, but he was picked right before it was my turn. Like the Ryan Zimmerman pick at this point in the draft.
R10 P1 Mike Inglett Gallardo, Yovani SP MIL
R10 P2 Mike Kuchera Damon, Johnny OF NYY
R10 P3 Peter Kreutzer Wagner, Billy RP NYM
R10 P4 Nate Stephens Hill, Rich SP CHC
R10 P5 Tim McLeod Cain, Matthew SP SF
R10 P6 Ray Flowers Helton, Todd 1B COL
R10 P7 Brent Grooms Lowell, Mike 3B BOS
R10 P8 Chris Bracke Valverde, Jose RP HOU
R10 P9 Michael Salfino Cabrera, Orlando SS CHW
R10 P10 Derek Carty Liriano, Francisco SP MIN
R10 P11 Andy Behrens Lincecum, Tim SP SF
R10 P12 David Gonos Maine, John SP NYM
Notes from this round & my pick: Curious to see where Francisco Liriano would go, about where I suspected in the 10th round. Should go higher in keeper league drafts. Was targeting an SP, didn't get Carmona so had to decide between Gallardo, Hill, Cain and Lincecum. Stayed away from the SF pitchers because of their expected team wins in '08, think Gallardo has more potential than Rich Hill, so he was my pick. I think Gallardo will surprise many this season, his stuff is very good.
R11 P1 David Gonos Myers, Brett SP PHI
R11 P2 Andy Behrens Cordero, Francisco RP CIN
R11 P3 Derek Carty Kemp, Matt OF LA
R11 P4 Michael Salfino Fields, Josh 3B, OF CHW
R11 P5 Chris Bracke McGowan, Dustin SP TOR
R11 P6 Brent Grooms Hermida, Jeremy OF FLA
R11 P7 Ray Flowers Jenks, Bobby RP CHW
R11 P8 Tim McLeod Loney, James 1B LA
R11 P9 Nate Stephens Drew, Stephen SS ARI
R11 P10 Peter Kreutzer Encarnacion, Edwin 3B CIN
R11 P11 Mike Kuchera Kouzmanoff, Kevin 3B SD
R11 P12 Mike Inglett Cuddyer, Michael OF MIN
Notes from this round & my pick: Interesting picks in the 11th round were Matt Kemp who has plenty of potential, but may not have a full-time starting spot and Josh Fields who in my opinion was picked way too early. My pick was Michael Cuddyer, this was the first pick I was not real happy with. I needed another OF as the pool of quality OF was drying up, was debating between Cuddyer, Burrell and Ibanez. I am hoping he bounces back to his 2006 form.
R12 P1 Mike Inglett Burnett, A.J. SP TOR
R12 P2 Mike Kuchera Delgado, Carlos 1B NYM
R12 P3 Peter Kreutzer Penny, Brad SP LA
R12 P4 Nate Stephens Taveras, Willy OF COL
R12 P5 Tim McLeod Billingsley, Chad SP LA
R12 P6 Ray Flowers Thome, Jim DH CHW
R12 P7 Brent Grooms Blalock, Hank 3B TEX
R12 P8 Chris Bracke Burrell, Pat OF PHI
R12 P9 Michael Salfino Wainwright, Adam SP STL
R12 P10 Derek Carty Lopez, Felipe SS, 2B WAS
R12 P11 Andy Behrens Corpas, Manuel RP COL
R12 P12 David Gonos Cordero, Chad RP WAS
Notes from this round & my pick: Since I was going to be drafting 7 SP's, I thought this was a good place to go for a solid pitcher with good K numbers. I decided on Burnett who can be injury prone, but can also get you 175+ K's. I think getting Carlos Delgado this late was a good pick and taking Felipe Lopez was a bad move.
R13 P1 David Gonos Street, Huston RP OAK
R13 P2 Andy Behrens Fukudome, Kosuke OF CHC
R13 P3 Derek Carty Kent, Jeff 2B LA
R13 P4 Michael Salfino Polanco, Placido 2B DET
R13 P5 Chris Bracke Garko, Ryan 1B CLE
R13 P6 Brent Grooms Capps, Matt RP PIT
R13 P7 Ray Flowers Lidge, Brad RP PHI
R13 P8 Tim McLeod Sheets, Ben SP MIL
R13 P9 Nate Stephens Hoffman, Trevor RP SD
R13 P10 Peter Kreutzer Isringhausen, Jason RP STL
R13 P11 Mike Kuchera Hamilton, Josh OF TEX
R13 P12 Mike Inglett Soriano, Rafael RP ATL
Notes from this round & my pick: I was targeting a closer this round and it appears many others were as well. I was hoping Trevor Hoffman would fall to me, but I ended up with ATL's closer Rafael Soriano who has great stuff and should do just fine as their full-time closer. Getting Ben Sheets this late in the draft was a good risk/reward pick. Thought the Josh Hamilton pick was a bit of a reach at this point in the draft.
R14 P1 Mike Inglett Snell, Ian SP PIT
R14 P2 Mike Kuchera Hardy, J.J. SS MIL
R14 P3 Peter Kreutzer Rowand, Aaron OF SF
R14 P4 Nate Stephens Gordon, Alex 3B, 1B KC
R14 P5 Tim McLeod Ellsbury, Jacoby OF BOS
R14 P6 Ray Flowers Greene, Khalil SS SD
R14 P7 Brent Grooms Ibanez, Raul OF SEA
R14 P8 Chris Bracke Saltalamacchia, Jarrod C, 1B TEX
R14 P9 Michael Salfino Chamberlain, Joba RP NYY
R14 P10 Derek Carty Votto, Joey 1B CIN
R14 P11 Andy Behrens Glaus, Troy 3B TOR
R14 P12 David Gonos Rodriguez, Ivan C DET
Notes from this round & my pick: Went for my fourth of seven starting pitchers and picked Ian Snell. Ian should do well in all categories except maybe Wins, thought he was a good value pick for a 14th round pick. Several risk/reward picks worth noting in this round were Alex Gordon, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Joba Chamberlain and Joey Votto. I like to be a little more sure of my picks at this stage, but they could have some value if they play to their potential.
R15 P1 David Gonos Youkilis, Kevin 1B BOS
R15 P2 Andy Behrens Soto, Geovany C CHC
R15 P3 Derek Carty Towles, Justin C HOU
R15 P4 Michael Salfino Hernandez, Ramon C BAL
R15 P5 Chris Bracke Johnson, Kelly 2B ATL
R15 P6 Brent Grooms Bourn, Michael OF HOU
R15 P7 Ray Flowers Broxton, Jonathan RP LA
R15 P8 Tim McLeod Marmol, Carlos RP CHC
R15 P9 Nate Stephens Martinez, Pedro SP NYM
R15 P10 Peter Kreutzer Matthews Jr., Gary OF ANA
R15 P11 Mike Kuchera Hill, Aaron 2B TOR
R15 P12 Mike Inglett Lugo, Julio SS BOS
Notes from this round & my pick: Three more catchers off the board, way too early in my opinion. Michael Bourn pick was interesting and could pay off in a big way. I was targeting my MI and CI spots for these two rounds. I think this was the worst pick of the draft for me. I was debating between Lugo and Peralta and I went after the stolen bases, it may turn out to be ok if Lugo rebounds in batting average.
R16 P1 Mike Inglett LaRoche, Adam 1B PIT
R16 P2 Mike Kuchera Sheffield, Gary DH DET
R16 P3 Peter Kreutzer Pierzynski, A.J. C CHW
R16 P4 Nate Stephens Molina, Bengie C SF
R16 P5 Tim McLeod Peralta, Jhonny SS CLE
R16 P6 Ray Flowers Kearns, Austin OF WAS
R16 P7 Brent Grooms Soria, Joakim RP KC
R16 P8 Chris Bracke Hughes, Philip SP NYY
R16 P9 Michael Salfino Borowski, Joe RP CLE
R16 P10 Derek Carty Thomas, Frank DH TOR
R16 P11 Andy Behrens Gregg, Kevin RP FLA
R16 P12 David Gonos Francis, Jeff SP COL
Notes from this round & my pick: The steal of the draft was getting Gary Sheffield in round 16. I wish I would have taken him in round 15 instead of Lugo. I was thinking about it, but his age, injury concerns and DH only eligibility changed my mind. Think I got a very good value pick with Adam LaRoche this round. Three more decent closers picked late in the draft, just goes to show do not pick closers too early.
R17 P1 David Gonos Matsui, Kaz 2B HOU
R17 P2 Andy Behrens Hudson, Tim SP ATL
R17 P3 Derek Carty Bonderman, Jeremy SP DET
R17 P4 Michael Salfino Lilly, Ted SP CHC
R17 P5 Chris Bracke Jackson, Conor 1B ARI
R17 P6 Brent Grooms Wigginton, Ty 3B, 2B HOU
R17 P7 Ray Flowers Lowe, Derek SP LA
R17 P8 Tim McLeod Willingham, Josh OF FLA
R17 P9 Nate Stephens Hudson, Orlando 2B ARI
R17 P10 Peter Kreutzer Wang, Chien-ming SP NYY
R17 P11 Mike Kuchera Weaver, Jered SP ANA
R17 P12 Mike Inglett Varitek, Jason C BOS
Notes from this round & my pick: Was looking to get a SP and C this round. Really wanted Jered Weaver or Wang, but both were picked right before me so I went with the last decent catcher on the board and picked Jason Varitek. Josh Willingham and Orlando Hudson were nice picks this late in the draft.
R18 P1 Mike Inglett Perez, Oliver SP NYM
R18 P2 Mike Kuchera Pettitte, Andy SP NYY
R18 P3 Peter Kreutzer Blanton, Joe SP OAK
R18 P4 Nate Stephens Napoli, Michael C ANA
R18 P5 Tim McLeod Gagne, Eric RP MIL
R18 P6 Ray Flowers Griffey, Ken OF CIN
R18 P7 Brent Grooms Arroyo, Bronson SP CIN
R18 P8 Chris Bracke Jones, Todd RP DET
R18 P9 Michael Salfino Gorzelanny, Tom SP PIT
R18 P10 Derek Carty Percival, Troy RP TB
R18 P11 Andy Behrens Drew, J.D. OF BOS
R18 P12 David Gonos Willis, Dontrelle SP DET
Notes from this round & my pick: Went with some risk/high reward SP and drafted Oliver Perez. Plays half of his games in a pitcher friendly park on a good team, so should get good Win and K totals. Some interesting picks to note were Ken Griffey Jr., Andy Pettitte and Dontrelle Willis who could all be very good value picks in the 18th round of the draft.
R19 P1 David Gonos Baldelli, Rocco OF TB
R19 P2 Andy Behrens Upton, Justin OF ARI
R19 P3 Derek Carty Bonds, Barry OF SF
R19 P4 Michael Salfino Cabrera, Melky OF NYY
R19 P5 Chris Bracke Ryan, B.J. RP TOR
R19 P6 Brent Grooms Paulino, Ronny C PIT
R19 P7 Ray Flowers Greinke, Zach SP KC
R19 P8 Tim McLeod Buehrle, Mark SP CHW
R19 P9 Nate Stephens Guillen, Jose OF KC
R19 P10 Peter Kreutzer Wilson, Brian RP SF
R19 P11 Mike Kuchera Suzuki, Kurt C OAK
R19 P12 Mike Inglett Ankiel, Rick OF STL
Notes from this round & my pick: Needed a 5th (and final) OF. Was hoping Barry Bonds or Jose Guillen would fall to me but since they did not, went with best upside potential in Rick Ankiel. BJ Ryan could be a very good late round pick, but will have to stash him on the IR for the first few months of the year.
R20 P1 Mike Inglett Buchholz, Clay SP BOS
R20 P2 Mike Kuchera Lester, Jon SP BOS
R20 P3 Peter Kreutzer Ethier, Andre OF LA
R20 P4 Nate Stephens Kotchman, Casey 1B ANA
R20 P5 Tim McLeod Longoria, Evan 3B TB
R20 P6 Ray Flowers Jimenez, Ubaldo SP COL
R20 P7 Brent Grooms Meche, Gil SP KC
R20 P8 Chris Bracke Scott, Luke OF BAL
R20 P9 Michael Salfino Accardo, Jeremy RP TOR
R20 P10 Derek Carty Pena, Tony RP ARI
R20 P11 Andy Behrens Escobar, Yunel SS, 2B, 3B ATL
R20 P12 David Gonos Maybin, Cameron OF FLA
Notes from this round & my pick: About this time of the draft you will start seeing people take some of the better "prospects". Evan Longoria, Tony Pena and Cameron Maybin were taken in round 20. I went with a prospect myself and took SP Clay Buchholz who I think is a great value pick here with high upside on a very good team.
R21 P1 David Gonos Harden, Rich SP OAK
R21 P2 Andy Behrens Schilling, Curt SP BOS
R21 P3 Derek Carty Maddux, Greg SP SD
R21 P4 Michael Salfino Iwamura, Akinori 3B TB
R21 P5 Chris Bracke Marcum, Shaun SP TOR
R21 P6 Brent Grooms Pie, Felix OF CHC
R21 P7 Ray Flowers Ruiz, Carlos C PHI
R21 P8 Tim McLeod Sanchez, Freddy 2B PIT
R21 P9 Nate Stephens Johnson, Randy SP ARI
R21 P10 Peter Kreutzer Cameron, Mike OF MIL
R21 P11 Mike Kuchera Doumit, Ryan OF, C PIT
R21 P12 Mike Inglett Buck, John C KC
Notes from this round & my pick: I was hoping Rich Harden would keep falling as I would have taken him, excellent pick this late in the draft. I was also targeting Maddux or Schilling, but both were taken. I decided to pick one of the last adequate catchers on the board. We need to start two catchers and John Buck will provide good HR and RBI numbers from my second catcher slot.
R22 P1 Mike Inglett Patterson, Corey OF BAL</
