RANKINGS:    C     1B     2B     SS     3B     OF     OF2     DH     SP     SP2     RP     RP2

POS RANK TIER RANK PLAYER MLB LINK LG TEAM POS AGE FP 2010 BA 2010 R 2010 HR 2010 RBI 2010 SB COMMENTS
1 1 Albert Pujols MLB NL STL 1B 30.2 149.59 .323 110 39 119 9 Should be number one or two player drafted in every single season or keeper league draft. Excellent source of power, runs and very high batting average. To top it off you should get 8-10 SB's as well.
2 1 Miguel Cabrera MLB AL DET 1B 26.9 130.49 .311 94 37 115 3 Consistent masher who will be taken in the first round of drafts. Has been dealing with alcohol problems through counseling and it seems to be working. Expect top notch power and batting average numbers.
3 1 Prince Fielder MLB NL MIL 1B 25.9 124.94 .289 97 43 125 3 Howard and Fielder are the best power hitters in the game. Look for continued growth from this 26 year old in 2010 and smile with the huge power numbers he will give your fantasy club.
4 1 Mark Teixeira MLB AL NYY 1B 29.9 122.50 .297 101 37 118 2 Enjoyed his first season in NY and was worth every penny of that huge contract. Expect continued success in 2010 in a very dangerous lineup.
5 2 Ryan Howard MLB NL PHI 1B 30.3 122.42 .274 97 45 137 3 Only thing that separates him from the top tier of 1B is the .270 batting average. Even the huge power numbers can not get him into the elite group.
6 2 Joey Votto MLB NL CIN 1B 26.5 109.74 .296 88 29 98 7 Developing as expected, 2010 could be the year Votto joins the fantasy elite. We are expecting a nice production spike.
7 2 Pablo Sandoval MLB NL SF 1B/3B 23.7 108.65 .313 86 23 94 4 One of the best young hitters in the game today. Kung-Fu Panda has lost some weight this offseason, so continued improvement is expected. Looks to be primary 3B with recent signings in SF.
8 2 Adrian Gonzalez MLB NL SD 1B 27.9 106.86 .287 93 37 101 0 If he could only get out of SD, wow… imagine the power numbers he would put up. Until then, expect 35-40 HR's, 100+ RBI's and a .285 batting average.
9 3 Mark Reynolds MLB NL ARI 1B/3B 26.7 104.40 .255 94 37 100 13 With LaRoche signing, Reynolds will move back to 3B. Would be higher up the rankings, but that .255 batting average pulls him down. But, hard to ignore those power numbers.
10 3 Justin Morneau MLB AL MIN 1B 28.8 103.97 .287 87 32 113 1 Had stress fracture in his back, causing him to miss the last 3 weeks of the season. Was ready for Spring Training, but did not play well.
11 3 Kendry Morales MLB AL ANA 1B 26.8 103.69 .298 83 28 99 3 Had a breakout season last year and met all of the high expectations of a few years ago. With Vlad and Figgins gone, even more will be expected of him in 2010.
12 3 Kevin Youkilis MLB AL BOS 1B/3B 31.0 102.97 .292 94 26 100 4 The 1B/3B eligibility is a nice added bonus for the Greek God of Walks. He will produce good numbers across the board except for SB.
13 3 Derrek Lee MLB NL CHC 1B 34.5 99.73 .298 85 26 92 3 Had a fantastic 2009 season, but is in his mid-30's now and thus we expect a return to a more normal production in 2010. It will still be good, but we are expecting a drop off from his 2009 production.
14 3 Billy Butler MLB AL KC 1B 24.0 96.10 .300 80 24 94 1 Really like his development, is adding some power to go with good average. Expect around 25 HR's, 95 RBI's and a .300 batting average.
15 4 Lance Berkman MLB NL HOU 1B 34.1 89.85 .284 82 25 82 7 Solid choice who delivers in all power categories. Sprained knee early on in Spring training, needed minor surgery on it to clean it out. Expected to miss the first few weeks of the season.
16 4 James Loney MLB NL LAD 1B 25.9 87.41 .296 71 16 91 5
17 3 Victor Martinez MLB AL BOS C/1B 31.2 87.40 .300 73 20 94 0 Top 3 fantasy catcher, added bonus is his 1B eligibility. One of the few catchers that will bat around .300 with 20 HR's and 90+ RBI's.
18 4 Adam Dunn MLB NL WAS 1B/OF 30.4 85.50 .249 86 37 100 2 Count on 35-40 HR's and 100 RBI's. But, that .250 batting average and no speed will drop his value in most fantasy leagues.
19 5 Michael Cuddyer MLB AL MIN 1B/OF 31.0 82.99 .272 84 23 87 6
20 5 Jorge Cantu MLB NL FLA 1B/3B 28.1 82.26 .281 76 20 93 3 Could start at 1B or 3B depending on who FLA wants to start between Sanchez and Bonifacio.
21 5 Adam LaRoche MLB NL ARI 1B 30.4 82.07 .275 77 25 94 1
22 5 Carlos Pena MLB AL TB 1B 31.9 81.85 .246 83 35 103 1 Fractured a few fingers in September and had to have surgery. He has been playing in spring games, but is having trouble making contact.
23 5 Martin Prado MLB NL ATL 1B/2B/3B 26.4 75.95 .300 80 12 62 4 Can play all over the field, but will start at 2B this season in ATL.
24 6 Todd Helton MLB NL COL 1B 36.6 72.34 .299 72 13 72 0
25 6 Chris Davis MLB AL TEX 1B 24.1 70.90 .264 67 26 78 2 Puts up very good power numbers when he gets his AB. Problem is he does not put the ball in play enough. If he hits .260 or more you will get a bargain, we are skeptical.
26 6 Paul Konerko MLB AL CHW 1B 34.0 70.86 .262 71 26 83 1
27 6 Nick Swisher MLB AL NYY 1B/OF 29.3 68.92 .249 84 27 79 1
28 6 Garrett Jones MLB NL PIT 1B/OF 28.8 67.91 .261 62 20 70 9 Will see if he can replicate 2009 power numbers, we are cautiously optimistic.
29 6 Nick Johnson MLB AL NYY 1B 31.5 67.54 .278 76 15 72 3 Primary DH
30 6 Garrett Atkins MLB AL BAL 1B/3B 30.3 65.88 .274 65 17 81 1 Will move over to 1B with Tejada taking over at 3B.
31 7 Aubrey Huff MLB NL SF 1B 33.2 61.27 .272 61 17 74 2
32 7 Russell Branyan MLB AL CLE 1B 34.3 60.29 .243 60 29 69 2 Missed the final five weeks of the 2009 season with a herniated disk in his back. Will see time at 1B and DH, but is set to begin the season on the DL with back injury.
33 7 Casey Kotchman MLB AL SEA 1B 27.1 55.66 .275 58 13 65 2
34 8 Lyle Overbay MLB AL TOR 1B 33.1 51.59 .268 59 15 61 1
35 8 Ty Wigginton MLB AL BAL 1B/3B 32.4 50.74 .279 46 16 49 2 Will see plenty of playing time backing up 1B, 3B and DH.
36 8 Gaby Sanchez MLB NL FLA 1B 26.6 48.61 .263 53 13 56 4 With a solid spring, Sanchez beat out L.Morrison and won the starting 1B job.
37 8 Daric Barton MLB AL OAK 1B 24.6 47.78 .265 64 11 54 2 Beat out Chris Carter for starting 1B job.
38 8 Daniel Murphy MLB NL NYM 1B/OF 25.0 46.68 .274 45 11 50 4 Looks to be a three-headed competition at 1B in NY this year between Murphy, Tatis and Jacobs. We think Murphy will get majority of at bats once he is off of the DL. Expected to miss the first month of the season.
39 8 Ramon Hernandez MLB NL CIN C/1B 33.8 38.09 .261 40 11 56 1 Had arthroscopic surgery in July 2009, missed a few months of the season. Came back at the end of the season, should be ready for the 2010 season.
40 10 Ryan Garko MLB AL TEX 1B 29.3 31.32 .275 30 9 38 0
41 10 Hank Blalock MLB AL TB 1B 29.3 30.28 .267 30 10 34 1
42 10 Mark Kotsay MLB AL CHW 1B/OF 34.3 30.26 .264 35 5 41 3 Will be primary DH, but also see time at 1B and OF as needed.
43 10 Jason Giambi MLB NL COL 1B 39.2 25.43 .236 30 11 39 0

49 10 Chris Carter MLB AL OAK 1B 23.3 18.85 .245 23 8 27 1 Prospect with a high ceiling and very good power. Will begin season in the minors, but callup should happen sometime in 2010.
50 10 Logan Morrison MLB NL FLA 1B 22.6 18.59 .263 21 4 20 2

56 10 Travis Ishikawa MLB NL SF 1B 26.5 15.61 .253 18 5 20 1 January 2010, Ishikawa tore tendons in his foot. At this time surgery is not expected, but this could lower his chances of making the Opening Day roster.

POS RANK: Sport Fanatics rank for the position you are viewing.

LG RANK: The ranking given to a particular player for the entire group of players that have projected 2010 statistics (1150 players). Please note the overall rank is strictly based on projected fantasy points, it does not consider position scarcity like the ADP or our Tier Rankings do. This is why with catchers and relief pitchers in particular, the overall rank may look significantly different than the ADP or suggested Tier Rankings.

TIER RANK: The tier rankings are based on projected statistics for the 2010 season. The tier rankings were determined for a typical 12 team, 5 X 5 rotisserie league by using batting average, runs, runs batted in, home runs and stolen bases for hitters and by using wins, saves, ERA, WHIP and strikeouts for pitchers. Note that these rankings may not coincide with our positional player rankings as position scarcity (Catchers, Closers), category specialties (SB & Saves) and multiple position eligibility (players who have played in more than 20 games at more than one position last season) may have players in tiers higher then their actual fantasy points generated rankings.

Tier 1 - Players that produce at and/or are typically drafted in round 1.

Tier 2 - Players that produce at and/or are typically drafted in rounds 2-3.

Tier 3 - Players that produce at and/or are typically drafted in rounds 4-6.

Tier 4 - Players that produce at and/or are typically drafted in rounds 7-10.

Tier 5 - Players that produce at and/or are typically drafted in rounds 11-15.

Tier 6 - Players that produce at and/or are typically drafted in rounds 16-20.

Tier 7 - Players that produce at and/or are typically drafted in rounds 21-25.

Tier 8 - Players that produce at and/or are typically drafted in rounds 25-30.

Tier 9 - Players that produce at and/or are typically drafted in rounds 30+.

Tier 10 - Players that produce at and/or are typically not drafted in any draft format.

MLB LINK: Is a hyperlink to the player's web page on MLB.com.

LG: AL=American League, NL=National League. "Z" means they are still an unsigned free agent.

POS: Lists positions that they are eligible to play at the start of the 2010 season. Either played in 20 games or more games at that position last season or if they played under 20 games at any one position the most frequently position played in the 2009 season was used.

AGE: Is the age of the player as of April 1, 2010.

FANTASY POINTS: Formula derived by Sport Fanatics using the 5 scoring categories to determine player rankings. Also a good tool to use to compare value to other positions and determine tiers when there is a drop off in fantasy production for each position.

COMMENTS: Available for top players at each position, injury comments and playing time comments.
